Effective goal setting involves setting SMART goals. SMART is an acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.
Specific: A specific goal is clear and unambiguous. It answers the questions of who, what, where, when, and why.
Measurable: A measurable goal includes criteria for tracking progress and outcomes.
Achievable: An achievable goal is realistic and attainable within the given resources and constraints.
Relevant: A relevant goal aligns with broader recovery objectives and personal values.
Time-bound: A time-bound goal has a set deadline, creating a sense of urgency and prompting action.
